HUMANS AND HUMANITY

Humans are complicated, as are their reactions and relationships with others. But what is not complicated except animals? I think they are complicated too in their own world. Everything is complicated. But. Humanity is more because half of the people will treat you on the basis of who you are. And many of them reading this are saying, Oh no! We don't. Yes, everyone judges. You just don’t know it when you are being judged, and you are judging. And it’s human nature, which everyone denies. Human is a word that is quite simple, but human itself is quite difficult to understand. When we talk about a human, we talk about everything they carry with themselves: love, hate, kindness, and everything in between. Human life and human traits are not similar, but life happens in between.

"Human is a simple word more than human themselves."

Since childhood, I have known that to be a good person, you have to do good deeds, and that’s it. But as I grow up and experience life, I know that just doing a good deed is not enough to define who we are and how good we are. Humanity is more than just doing a good deed for someone or seeing someone helpless; moreover, it’s about treating every person equally as you treat others.

We all have struggles and experiences in our lives, but what really makes us human is what brings humanity to us. I have seen people judge beggars on the basis of how dirty or filthy someone is. I have seen people do selfish deeds just because they want to look good. I have seen people judge over caste, religion, colour, and clothes. I have seen people do work just because they wanted something in return. It’s a selfish world, but what makes you different is selflessness. Humanity doesn’t count on what people differentiate on. Humanity depends on what people do apart from those differences.

We all have insecurities, past experiences, and problems. People go through things you know nothing about. You have never seen them suffering because people are not out there talking about their problems. These are basic skills that are not taught in schools or colleges; we have to learn them on our own. But I really, somewhere, thought the school should teach us more life lessons than books. Honestly, I had great teachers who were more than just teachers. Coming to class. telling them to be silent and study.

We live in an era where social media plays a vast part in our lives.

Every news story—everything we got to know from social media before it was in the next day's newspaper— whether it’s someone’s demise, mental health, or life, especially for those who are public figures, social media is a jungle where news spreads like wildfire. But somewhere, social media is way more toxic than a real human being itself. It made you believe that you could do or achieve anything, and you lost everything in just one minute.

At the same time, we see people post their life stories in it because they want someone to get inspired. But at the same time, you see something negative in all those readings and thoughts. What about it? But this inspiration is limited because it's in a social media world. You don’t experience the outside world. There are a lot of people who live outside society, yet they have the greatest knowledge and experience.

But at some point, people are also there to set humanity as a trend. Humanity is not a trend you have to set or as a trend. Humanity is not a trend you have to set or achieve; it is not a life goal. It’s a gender role. No caste, no age bar, and no religion should be seen if you have intentions to do good to those who are underprivileged.

Our motive is not to inspire people in a limited space or area, but outside of it. One should get out of their comfort zone and go out and seek out people who need help. Go to NGO's, animal shelters, old age homes, orphanages, street vendors, beggars, and feed stray animals once in a while so that you feel you did a great deed.

But you can’t do it in one day or one month. One thing at a time. one activity in a day. Sometimes these little gestures make a big difference in the lives of those who think they don’t deserve anything.

You can talk to a stranger and share your problem. I believe that a stranger gives you better life advice than someone you know. Because it comes out naturally, you don’t know if a story may help; a little struggle story of their will does a lot. People think their problem is the biggest. There is no such thing as a big or small theory. A problem is a problem. No matter how small or huge.

Maybe someone is wishing for what you have today. It’s a privilege to have eyes that see, hands that work, and feet that walk. A lot of people are struggling in this life because of their physical identity. I have seen people make fun of people who are unsighted or who have a congenital disability.

It’s not easy for them to do their work. It’s never been easy, and it never will be. People learn by sharing. You alone can learn a lot of lessons from humans and other people out there. If you sit down one day around some stranger who looks sad and depressed for 15 or 20 minutes, maybe they will share their problem with you, and you end up giving them advice, which leads to the person not thinking of giving life another chance. You will never know whose life inspiration you may become. Your story of survival will become a lesson for others. The quality that makes us human is our ability to love and have compassion. No religion teaches us to fight with each other.

So, there is this quote by Kabir Das not only on humanity but as a whole: "Pothi Padh Padh Jag Mua Pandit Bhaya Na Koi, Dhai Aakhar Prem Ke, Jo Padhe so Pandit Hoye." Its meaning is that no matter the books you read about creativity, knowledge, and mankind, it doesn’t make any person wise if you are not practising the language of love and kindness in your real life.

"Humanity is not a trend. It’s not a part of any business. It's not a part of any religion or caste, but it’s a human quality to show love and compassion towards people or animals irrespective of all differences."
